68* “Heaven and Earth mingle their energies; all things bloom and bear fruit.”– “Somon” Shi-qi-Choshin-Tairon Volume 2.
Summer is the season when the energies of heaven and earth intertwine; this is because the balance between Yang energy and Yin energy shifts around the time of the summer solstice.
While the summer solstice marks the peak of Yang energy for the year, that energy begins to wane gradually thereafter. In its place, Yin energy starts to increase. Consequently, the fact that plants not only bloom but also begin to bear fruit is seen as a manifestation of this interplay—representing an abundance of Yang (the flowers) alongside a budding presence of Yin (the fruit).
During this season, when yang energy is still at its peak, we tend to sweat more and spend more time active due to the long daylight hours. However, this increased metabolic demand and activity can easily leave the body feeling fatigued—which is why you might be feeling sleepy. Make sure to get plenty of rest!
